What is flow measurement?
A flowmeter is an instrument capable of measuring a fluid’s velocity, volumetric, or mass flow. Some water meters only measure the entire volume of water flowing through them, not the actual flow rate. Flowmeters are designed to measure liquids, gases, air, steam, and solids and appear in various sizes. There are numerous varieties of flow meters on the market due to the absence of a single universal flow monitor or flow device that applies to all applications.
Air flow meter may use similar operating principles to an oil and gas industry air flow meter, but their designs will differ due to explosion-proof requirements and pressure ratings. The operation principle remains unchanged, but additional features affect the price.
